WELCOME > What is the 15WCEE?

The World Conferences on Earthquake Engineering (WCEE) are organized every four years under the auspices of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE). To name but a few, the last WCEEs were held in 2000 (12WCEE, Auckland, New Zealand), 2004 (13WCEE, Vancouver, Canada) and 2008 (14WCEE, Beijing, China).

These conferences attract thousands of researchers, academics and professional from all over the world to present and discuss the most recent advances and findings in the knowledge over an increasingly wide earthquake-engineering related list of topics.

The 15WCEE will be held in Lisbon, from September 24 to 28, in a city marked by the devastating November 1, 1755, Lisbon earthquake (and tsunami), that shaped its present form and that for most made up the first modern global catastrophe, signalling the birth of earthquake engineering.
